The Pale Blue Eye
WHY
The excellent director of Black Mass and Hostiles, Scott Cooper, offers us to start 2023 with his new film, The Pale Blue Eye. And for this he takes us back in time to discover West Point in 1830 in this adaptation of the book of the same name. The story proposes us to follow the investigation led by Christian Bale on a series of violent murders amongst the famous academy. We won’t tell you more because the movie is full of surprises and revelations! The film has an excellent cast and a very interesting story without forgetting the beautiful cinematography and the reconstitution of this period. We didn’t see the time passing by thanks to the great duo formed by Christian Bale and Harry Melling (seen in Harry Potter and The Queen’s Gambit) that works perfectly and are very complementary. Do not miss this excellent movie!
WHAT
West Point, 1830. A world-weary detective is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case — a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe.
