Opera Mini has topped other apps in Google playstore becoming the number one downloaded app in Kenya in the past weekend.
According to the browser company, it saw an influx of new Kenyan users downloading the App reaching number one in the Google Play Store.
This follows the tech firm’s success in its recent campaign “Shake and Win”, which offered fans the chance to win over $300,000 as well as airtime, cash Prizes, and brand-new Phones which needed users to shake their phones to potentially the prices from popular providers.
This saw over 13 million people participating in the campaign across the African continent, shaking their phones over 1,000,000 times a day. More than 200,000 prizes have since been won.
“Football fans in Kenya should continue to keep their eyes on Opera Mini, since we plan to continue bringing amazing user experiences to football fans there, especially with the return of the Premier League just around the corner,” said Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera.
The company has pledged to develop mobile products and services tailored to the needs of the African consumer.
