Khloé Kardashian Says True’s Birthday Party Wasn’t Without Tristan Thompson Drama

Khloé Kardashian gave her baby daddy Tristan Thompson a polite “thanks, but no thanks” when he offered to pay for their daughter True’s fourth birthday party. And it sounds like these two do not have good communication.

In season 2, episode 7 of Hulu’s The Kardashians, Khloé throws her daughter a “pastel”-themed party in what looks like her backyard, complete with giant balloons, a hair braiding station, a bunch of kittens, slime, and lots of pretty desserts. The Good American designer is obviously proud of the event she threw, taking pictures of the birthday girl with all the party supplies.

Showing her party planner Mindy Weiss pictures on her phone, Khloé reveals, “her dad got her this diamond necklace, and I’m like, oh my god,” before explaining that he’s only absent because of an NBA game.

“I don’t know, if Tristan [were] here today, if that would add more stress to me. We do co-parent really well, but I haven’t seen Tristan in person since before Christmastime,” she tells the camera. True was born in April, so this is about six-month gap she’s alluding to.

“So, I don’t know if I’m supposed to tell you this or not,” Khloé’s mom Kris Jenner says after arriving. “Tristan called me. And he said that he privately went ahead and took care of the whole party.” Khloé responds simply, “that’s nice, but I won’t let that happen,” but Kris pushes. “You should, he was so excited to do it,” Jenner cajoles her daughter, but Khloé doesn’t miss a beat. “And I’m so excited that I could do it all by myself.” After another back-and forth, both women walk away smiling.

“I work very hard to do elaborate things for True, and I don’t need anyone’s help,” Khloé tells the camera. Which is great and all, but I’m sensing drama under the surface. Did Tristan call Kris because he really wanted to make the payment (I’m assuming to Weiss?) a surprise, or are he and Khloé on the outs? How are they co-parenting without seeing each other for months? Maybe the nanny handles the switch-off, or, more likely, Tristan is as involved as he can be given his schedule while Khloé just handles everything on her own. Which is totally a version of co-parenting…but again, I smell tension.
